Instagram updates you need to know about January 2022 edition

So here we go with our round up of updates and new features from Instagram in January 2022.

A new way to view content!

Instagram are rolling out a new way to see more of the content that you love and less of the stuff you don’t…which means that this is a perfect time to be getting those followers to fall in love with your content and find you in the favorites feed.

Home: The current feed that Instagram users are familiar with—this feed will continue to content is ranked algorithmically based on how interested you’re likely to be in specific posts. It will also now include an increasing number of recommendations.

Favorites: A new introduction to the offering—this feed contains content from accounts that you want to make sure you don’t miss things from. You can choose which accounts appear in this feed, like Twitter lists.

Following: For those looking for a predictable and unfiltered experience—Instagram is bringing back this option which will present a chronological list of posts just from accounts you follow.

Subscriptions

This is currently only available to a small group of creators and will be rolling out in the USA first…find out more in our blog post.

Scheduling lives

Instagram announced this week ( Last week of Jan )  that scheduled lives will appear on feed and stories independently of your scheduled live post. You will also get a badge on your profile that tells followers that you are going live, they can then get a reminder.

New remix options for any video!

You can now remix ANY videos you like on Instagram NOT just reels…how cool is that?

New multiple video feature in reels.

Instagram have introduced the multiple videos in a reel feature. This enables you to record and share up to 6 videos in one reel…check out how we tested out this feature 

Predictions….

New reaction feature in stories stickers. Another fun edition to the range of stickers.

More safety around young adults using Instagram with a new supervision feature. Cant wait to see this!

90 second reels….a great way to share longer form content.

A status update feature…similar to a whats app / Facebook status that your followers will see.

Pin post to profile feature…this I cannot wait for. A great way to draw attention to one post, similar to the pinned comment feature. Great to getting more eyes on the content you want to prioritise!

And last but for sure not least…Template option in REELS!! Now this I have very little knowledge on right now…could it mean you can easily sync your own images? Will it be similar to remix? Who knows but you can rest assured that when it drops you find out about it here first!
