How to attract your ideal client using Instagram.
Aug 27, 2024Hey, small business owners! If you’re looking to attract your ideal clients on Instagram, you’re in the right place. Today, I’m sharing some fun and effective strategies to help you connect with the people who will love your business the most. Ready to dive in? Let’s go!
Go Find Them!
First things first, become a detective and search them out! Here’s how:
Step 1: Think Like Your Ideal Client
Start by putting yourself in your ideal client's shoes. What words do they use in their Instagram posts? What kind of content do they share? Once you have a good idea of these things, conduct your search.
Step 2: Use Keywords in Search
Use the keywords you identified in Instagram’s search bar and look through the accounts that Instagram suggests. If you have a good understanding of who your ideal clients are, you'll recognize them when you find their content.
Step 3: Engage Using the 5/5/5 Formula
When you find someone who you think is your ideal client, follow my 5/5/5 formula:
- Like 5 of their posts.
- Genuinely comment on 5 of their posts.
- Engage with their stories if they have them.
This means they will have a minimum of 10 notifications from Instagram showing them who you are, which will pique their interest and encourage them to check out your account. Do this 5 times a day to find 5 new accounts daily.
Optimise Your Bio
Your bio is the first impression new visitors get of your account, so make it count!
Use Keywords in Your Name
The words in your name are searchable, so rather than just using your name or business name, include keywords your ideal client is searching for that are also relevant to your business. For example, instead of "Jane Smith," try "Jane Smith | Fitness Coach" or "Jane Smith | Social Media Expert."
Keep It Short and Sweet
You only have a limited amount of space in your bio, so don’t ramble. Keep it concise and include keywords that your ideal client will be searching for. Highlight what you do and how you can help them in a clear, straightforward manner.
Look at Your Insights
Instagram insights are a goldmine of information about what your followers love.
Analyse Your Best Content
Check which posts have performed the best in terms of engagement. What kind of content do your followers find most useful or entertaining? Once you know what works, you can create more of that. You can also plan and keep a track of your findings inside the Insta Queens Guide to Content that Converts which you can find on Amazon.
Focus on Shareability
In July 2024, Adam Mosseri announced that 'sharability' is a key content metric for Instagram. To get your content shown to more people, it needs to be shared. Think about ways to create content that not only your followers love but also want to share with their friends.
