How To Boost Your Brand On Social Media

blog Nov 26, 2025

This week I joined Vic Minnett on the BBC CWR Mid Morning Show to talk about one of my favourite topics. How to build a successful business using social media.

We used the brilliant example of Dave Mac Propshafts. On the surface he sells something pretty niche and fairly mundane. Prop shafts. Yet somehow he has managed to build an online community, pull in a whole new audience and even catch the attention of the BBC. All by showing up as himself and having a bit of fun with content.

If you want to do the same for your brand here are some of the top tips I shared live on air plus a few extra gems I teach inside my one to one sessions and PR packages.

1. Be consistent even when it feels boring

One of the first things I said on BBC CWR was that you cannot show up online once and expect to become an overnight millionaire. You have to show up consistently.

That does not mean posting twenty times a day. It means choosing a realistic rhythm and sticking to it. Your audience learns to expect to see you. That familiarity is what builds trust and eventually sales.

Try this

  • Pick three days a week and commit to posting something useful

  • Use a simple pattern such as tip day, behind the scenes, client story

  • Batch create content once a week so showing up feels easier

2. Turn the “mundane” into content

In the interview we talked about how fascinating it was to see inside the factory at Dave Mac Propshafts. Before you saw those videos did you really know what was going on in there. Probably not.

The same is true for your business. The thing you do every day and barely notice can be mind blowing to your audience. Fitting a prop shaft. Packing orders. Planning a shoot. Setting up your studio. That is the content.

Ask yourself

  • What do I do on autopilot that my audience never sees

  • How can I film a thirty second behind the scenes clip today

  • What process could I break into three simple steps for a mini series

3. Let your weirdness shine

On air I said something that always makes people smile. Let your weirdness shine. Your vibe attracts your tribe.

There are a million people who offer a similar product or service to you. The only thing that truly makes you stand out is you. Your personality. Your passion. Your humour. Your music tastes. Your values.

Look at Kieran from Dave Mac Propshafts. He took a niche product, paired it with rave music, and leaned fully into the energy that feels fun for him. It may not be for everyone. That is exactly the point.

If someone wants a polished corporate robot, I am not their girl. You will see mum bun, hoodies, school run chaos and award ceremonies on my feed. The clients who choose me want exactly that mix of expertise and real life. You get to do the same.

4. Show people the full picture

People love seeing the truth. Not just the shiny bits.

Share the big moments. Like being on BBC CWR. Share the everyday grind. Laptop days. Client calls. Prepping props. Sketched ideas that never made it.

The more of the journey you share the more your audience feels like they are walking alongside you. That is where loyalty comes from.

5. Use each big moment at least twenty times

Getting on radio is amazing. What you do next is where the real magic happens.

Whenever one of my clients lands a feature we go straight into repurposing mode. A single interview can become at least twenty pieces of content. Blog posts, social posts, newsletters, reels, quote graphics, press pitches and more.

This BBC CWR appearance is a perfect example. We are turning it into

  • Two full blog posts including this one

  • An email to my list

  • Multiple social posts across Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn

  • Short form videos and reels

  • A case study for PR clients
